When buying dog houses there are really two types to consider mainly: wood or plastic? Plastic dog houses are great in that they can come in different colors like beige, red, green, blue, orange and just about any other color you can think of. They can also come in different shapes like igloos, cozy cottages, or even Snoopy's dog house! Whatever you can imagine it probably already exists as a plastic houses. This means standard houses with flat roofs and or plain hinged roofs will be more prevalent. Plastic dog houses are easy to assemble since there are very few pieces and for the most part come partly preassembled.
Unlike wooden houses which can be shipped much flatter like assemble yourself furniture, a plastic dog house will have large pieces that cannot be packed tightly. If you live in a cold climate or your dog is an outside dog, then a plastic house will offer some warmth due to the double insulation. Plastic dog houses usually also have raised floors so that your dog can keep warm during the cold and cool during the heat. Plastic houses come in more interesting shapes and colors, are easy to clean and maintain, plus provide extra creature comforts for your pet. Wooden houses, while they may look better because they look like real houses, do not offer quite so many conveniences.
